ArtiSta. Rita US Tour Review - Art Arcilla
It was an amazing eye-opener. Usually, when we hear of a Filipino group, we usually expect a chorale with choir type of music.
This was a "broadway musical play" --- an amazing and a thoroughly enjoyable performance. There was comedy, there was a love story, there was jazz, vaudeville, ballads, a bit of hip-hop all wrapped up in our Kapampangan language. A standing-ovation performance.
The music was beautiful --- a combination of new compositions and traditional Kapampangan folk songs. Beautifully arranged and excellently sung, these new and classic Kapampangan songs brought out the beauty and the versatility of our Kapampangan langauge.
The singing and performance of the the players was all excellent. The choruses came out as one, big, beautiful voice. It uplifted my patriotic spirit and renewed my sense of home for Pampanga and our town of St.Rita. The only minus that i believe needs to be addressed was the sound electronics. I am not an expert on stage/voice electronics, but there were some moments of either the electronics/wireless (?) was lagging or experienced some delays. Overall, it was an outstanding performance.
